Slight change made to school board districts

November 24, 2022

The Comanche Board of Education met in a regular session on Nov. 8. Board members approved various routine consent agenda items, including the calendar year 2023 board meeting schedule and the approval of a resolution calling for the annual school board election. The board also approved General Fund encumbrances.

Superintendent Julie Bills discussed with the board previously shared information regarding redistribution of election districts for members of the Comanche School Board. Board redistricting is required by law within a year of a census being taken. The board contracted with Business Information Services, LLC to examine the census data and offer scenarios. Scenario number one had the lowest percentage variance between the most population in each district to the least.

The board approved using scenario one for redistricting purposes. The new districts are posted on the school district webpage.

Bills reported that on Oct. 1 there were 898 students enrolled, which is a decrease of 45 students as compared to last year. She also shared the success of the cross country teams, band, FFA,and academic teams. Mrs. Bills also updated members on the 14 teachers who received funding for their projects through Donors Choose.
