Comanche softball opens season with 1-1 start
The Comanche softball team opened their season with a win before falling in a pitcher’s duel in the second game of the Lake Country Conference Tournament on Monday.
The Lady Indians, the No. 7 seed in the tournament, piled up 17 hits in a 16-0 shutout of No. 10 seed Marietta, but could only muster one hit in a 1-0 loss to host and No. 2 seed Tishomingo in the second game.

After a scoreless first inning, Comanche took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second before exploding for 13 runs in the third inning.
Several Comanche players had multiple-hit games, led by Brighton O’Connor, who homered twice and had a double. She went 3-for-3 with four RBI in the contest. Jentry Whaley, Alyi Minor and Kamrey Rendon were also 3-for-3. Caity Blair, Minor, Rendon and Mykayla Slovak all had doubles.
Making her high school pitching debut, Whaley threw a three-inning perfect game, sitting down all nine batters she faced. She struck out five batters in the game.

Comanche could not keep the hot bats going in the second game. Raylee Chaney led off the game with a double for the Lady Indians and that would be the only hit of the contest for Comanche.
The game was a pitcher’s duel between Tishomingo’s Anderson and Comanche’s Rendon. Anderson struck out 10 Comanche batters and walked two. Rendon had an impressive high school debut, giving up one run on three hits while striking out four and walking one.
Tishomingo scored its lone run in the bottom of the first with pitching and defense dominating from that point forward for both teams.
