A Loco couple were arrested for allegedly harboring a fugitive from justice last Wednesday. The fugitive, Matthew Coy Melton Davis, 38, of Marlow, had been wounded when he allegedly escaped from arrest at a confrontation with Lighthorse Police Department at the Lawton-Duncan “Y.”

Davis had been shot during a traffic stop on suspicion of a stolen vehicle that turned violent. Two others in the car with Davis surrendered on the scene and Davis allegedly fled the scene and sought help from Bryon Russell Odom, 45, and Fulecha Kay Pope, 35, residents of Loco.

According to court records, Pope admitted to law enforcement officers that Davis had contacted her that afternoon asking for help. He allegedly told Pope that he had been shot and was out in the country. Odom and Pope then allegedly drove to the location and picked up Davis.

Pope said she had seen an alert referencing the officer-involved shooting and Davis allegedly admitted to her that he was involved and had been shot by a police officer.

The couple took Davis to their home in Loco, where Stephens County Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to track him down by tracing his cell phone.

When deputies arrived, Odom and Pope allegedly told deputies that no one else was in the residence, but after entering the home, deputies found Davis trying to hide.

Odom told deputies he did not know that Davis was a fugitive from justice and did not know he had been shot.
The couple was given bail of $10,000 each. The crime is punishable up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
