April 10, 2026

Bertha Mae Qualls passed from this life March 29, 2026, surrounded by her family at the age of 90. Bertha was born in Ringling, OK, December 16, 1935, to Mary Marie (Willis) Lawson and David Barton. She attended school at Ringling and Comanche. She married Hersel Qualls on February 4, 1952 in Henrietta, Texas. Together they had four children: Wayne, Darlene, Lorrie, and David Odie.
Bertha worked in the Canastas Nursing Home, Emma’s Flower Shop, Haggar pants factory and she and Hersel owned and operated Community Ambulance Service in Duncan, Comanche, Marlow, and Velma. When Hersel got sick, they sold the ambulance service and she worked for Braums until retiring.
She was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan, she was unfiltered and told you exactly what she thought, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, traveling, playing cards, and most of all spending time with her family and loved ones. She lived a long and full life.
Bertha is survived by her daughter, Darlene Bethany Cox and Husband Johnnie Cox; her son-in-law, Stormy Rowe; 16 grandchildren including spouses; 35 great-grandchildren including spouses; 13 great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way; two 2 great-great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Hersel; daughter, Lorrie Rowe; son, Wayne; son, David Odie; son-in-law, Cleve Bethany; her parents, siblings, and other family members and friends.
