Shawn Russell Kirby, of Comanche, OK, passed away on January 21, 2026 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, following a brief illness. He was 44 years old. A memorial service will be held at the Duncan Country Club, on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 6-9 p.m. All are invited to come and celebrate Shawn’s life.
Shawn was born January 11, 1982, in Duncan, OK, to Butch Kirby and Connie (Combs) Kirby. He grew up in Comanche where he attended school, graduating in 2001. He excelled in golf while at CHS, earning a golf scholarship. Shawn was known to be a loyal friend to many. He loved his friends like family. After school and college, he worked as a car salesman for over 20 years, then, following his passion for golf by working as a golf course superintendent and golf pro. Besides golfing, Shawn was an avid OU Sooner football fan, and a huge fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder, he always cheered for the Denver Broncos.
Survivors include his mother, Connie Combs, Comanche, OK; his father, Butch Kirby, Stephenville, TX; a brother, Clint Kirby, Comanche, OK; and too many friends to mention. He was loved by numerous lifelong friends.
Shawn was preceded in death by his grandparents, and an uncle, Craig Combs.
