Sandra Marie "Sandi" Phelps

Sandra Marie “Sandi” Phelps, age 74, a longtime resident of the Meridian Community, passed away on December 25, 2025 at her home.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 31st at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie Hill Church of Christ, with Mario Pineda officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.  The family will be receiving guests on Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m.and Wednesday 9:00-12:00
Sandi was born March 22, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK, to Floyd E. and Geneva M. (Welch) Straily.  She attended school in Wilburton, OK Sandi and Jerry Phelps were united in marriage on May 26, 1967 in Wilburton.  They moved to Meridian in 1975 where they lived and raised their family.
She enjoyed being a “Nanny” to all. She enjoyed shopping with  her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed going to sporting events for the kids and grandkids.  She was always up for an adventure.
She is survived by daughters: Paula Phelps, Comanche; and Sharon Brooke and husband Matt, Comanche; Teah Mosley and husband J.D., Comanche; and Kim Gilley and husband Kenny, Duncan, OK; seven grandchildren: Amanda Winslett, Talihina, OK; Charyl Barraza and husband Luke, Duncan, OK; Courtney Brooke, Tennessee; Syvana Stegall and husband Kyle, Duncan, OK; Geweleyana Brooke, Comanche; Windy Yackeschi, Duncan, OK; and Faith Smith, Comanche; seven great-grandchildren: Daton Winslett, Weatherford, OK; Falicity  Stegall, Jase Stegall, Ultan Stegall, all of Duncan, OK; Ezekiel Brooke, Tennessee; Jaxon Brooke and Colton Brooke, Comanche;  also, brother in law Wayne Phelps, Broken Bow, OK;  sister and brother in law, Elsie and Cecil Anderson;  extended family, Tym and Toshia Quintero and partner in crime, Judy Boulter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Sandi was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, in 2021; her parents, Floyd and Geneva Straily; her sister in law and best friend, Linda Phelps;  a great grandson Killian Stegall;  sisters and brothers in laws; and her  dearest friend and aunt. Bernice Capps.  “Aunt Bernice was the tacky to Nanny’s truth” Sandi’s favorite quote was “It ain’t tacky if it’s the truth.”
