Raelee Ellis' seven straight points in the third quarter gave the Comanche girls the boost they needed on their way to a 39-32 win over Davis in the first round of the Wynnewood Invitational on Thursday afternoon.
Ellis had scored just five points in the first half, but found her groove in the second half on her way to a game-high 20-point performance.
It was a slow start by both teams with Comanche holding a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. Both teams got their offenses going in the second quarter.  There were four lead changes before the Lady Indians took a 16-15 halftime lead.
Davis opened the third quarter with a three-pointer, but Ellis' seven points and a free throw by Drae Sparks put Comanche up 24-18.
The Lady Wolves would make it interesting, scoring the final five points of the third quarter to cut the Comanche lead to 27-24.
Davis would get a free throw to open the fourth to cut the lead to 27-25, but the Lady Wolves would get no closer as Comanche went on a 8-2 run to push the lead to 35-27.  Davis would get no closer than five points the rest of the way.
It was a second straight win for the Lady Indians (2-2), who defeated Little Axe on Tuesday. The Lady Indians now take on Bridge Creek on Friday at 4 p.m. for the right to advance to the championship game on Saturday.
