Annual Charis Center fundraiser on Nov. 13

The Charis Center is set to host its 10th annual Comedy &  Coffee + Cake event on Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Simmons Center in Duncan, marking a decade of fundraising crucial for its operations.

The evening will feature a clean comedy performance by Mike Williams, who headlined the first event 10 years ago. Attendees can expect a night of laughter while supporting a local cause that provides no-cost pregnancy-related services to women and families in Stephens County.

“We all need a night of laughter and the joy of knowing we are helping moms, dads, and precious babies,” said Kimberla Treat, Executive Director of the Charis Center.

This event is the main fundraiser for the organization, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit completely funded by local donors that receives no government funding.

“This event is vital to making sure we meet our budget, and are able to remain open to provide a safe place to help moms and dads, and provide supplies for their babies,” Treat said. “We are so grateful for a community that invests in women and families, making an impact for future generations.”

The event has sold out for the last three years, and organizers encourage early ticket purchases.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and will feature coffee from Seven Weeks, which is 100% organically farmed, pesticide-free, low acid, and mold-free. Hot chocolate and tea will also be available for non-coffee drinkers. Special Days Cake Boutique will provide an array of cakes. Pastor Randy Southerland will provide piano music, and a photo booth will be available before the show starts promptly at 7:15 p.m.

The Charis Center offers vital services including pregnancy testing, options consulting, ultrasound, prenatal and parenting classes, life skills, and baby supplies, all free of charge. The event will also feature personal stories from women and families impacted by these services.

Tickets can be purchased ahead for $35, or two for $50, at the Charis Center or the Simmons Center. They are also available online via Eventbrite. Tickets at the door will be $45.
