FCCLA kicks off 'Sock-tober' Drive

October 16, 2025

The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter at Comanche High School has launched its annual “Sock-tober” drive, collecting new, unopened socks for families in need across Oklahoma.
New socks are consistently among the most-requested items by homeless shelters nationwide, making the drive a vital yearly project for the student organization. Students not only embrace the opportunity to assist their community but also inject a bit of fun into the process.
“They really like the idea of helping others while having a little fun,” a spokesperson for the chapter said.
The drive often sparks a friendly competition among different high school classes to see which group can collect the most pairs. The current collection record for the event stands at 958 pairs of socks.
The FCCLA chapter will be collecting donations for the entire month of October. The public is invited to contribute to this year’s effort by dropping off new, unopened socks at Comanche High School.
