Comanche softball wraps up district play
September 25, 2025

Comanche’s Cianna O’Connor broke up a no-hitter by Lindsay pitcher Riese Flood, an Arizona State commit, with two outs in the top of the seventh inning with a bunt single to score the Lady Indians’ only run in a 7-1 loss in the final game of district play on Monday.
Raelee Ellis led off the inning, getting hit by a pitch. She was then sacrificed over to second base by Cassidy Smith. Ellis would advance to third on a wild pitch before coming home on O’Connor’s hit.
The game was scoreless through the first three innings before the Leopardettes put up three runs in the fourth inning to take the lead. They would add another run in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Chloe Kinkade took the loss on the mound for the Lady Indians. She gave up 11 hits and four earned runs. She struck out one and walked one.
The two teams had met up the previous Monday in Comanche with the Leopardettes taking a 5-1 win.
In that game, the score was tied at 1-1 through four innings before Lindsay had a breakout offensively in the top of the fifth inning with four runs, helped out by a couple of Comanche errors. None of the five runs by Lindsay were earned.
Comanche’s lone run came in the bottom of the second inning after trailing 1-0. Sarah Kelnhofer reached on an error and eventually found her way home on a wild pitch.
The Lady Indians had three hits in the game with Raelee Ellis, Cassidy Smith and Payton Gomez all getting singles.
Lindsay won the district title with a perfect 10-0 district record. Comanche is fifth in the district. They will more than likely be traveling to Heritage Hall next week for the regional tournament. The Lady Chargers were undefeated on the season at 20-0 overall with two games left in the regular season.
Comanche has two games left on the schedule, a road game at Marlow on Tuesday and the final game of the regular season at home against MacArthur for Senior Night. Seniors will be recognized at 4:40 p.m., with the game following at approximately 5 p.m.
