Comanche native receives honor

Dr. Laney Tibbs, a 2013 graduate of Comanche High School, has been named a recipient of the NextGen Under 30 Leadership Award. The award recognizes young leaders who have demonstrated talent, drive, and community service.
Dr. Tibbs, who has worked in student affairs at Murray State College for eight years, was recognized for her commitment to helping first-generation college students earn their degrees.
A proud Oklahoma native, Dr. Tibbs earned her associate degree from Murray State College, her bachelor’s degree from Cameron University, her master’s from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and her doctorate from Southern Nazarene University.
Her doctoral research focused on how academic and social engagement impacts the graduation rates of first-generation students at community colleges.
