Lady Indians drop opener

The Comanche softball team got off to a good start but could not hold on as Tishomingo rallied for a 7-2 win in the season opener for both teams on Monday.
Comanche grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but the visitors would score seven unanswered runs the rest of the way with the biggest blow coming with four runs in the top of the fourth inning that allowed Tishomingo to break a 2-2 tie.
Cianna O’Connor had an RBI single in the bottom of the first to drive in the first run and then she would later steal home for the second run of the inning.
Tishomingo tied the game in the top of the third.
Three hits, including a double, and an error in the top of the fourth led to the four-run inning for Tishomingo.
Comanche (0-1) got runners on base a couple more times in the game, but could not push any runs across.
Raelee Ellis went 3-for-4 with a run scored to lead CHS at the plate. O’Connor, Addi Evans and Rylee Pipkin had one hit each.
Cloey Kinkaid took the loss on the mound, giving up five earned runs on eight hits. She struck out four and walked two.
A healthy Stephens County requires great community news.
