Winning doesn't stop here with bill

by Tom Cole

Last week, on America’s birthday, President Trump delivered on his campaign promises, ushering in so many golden chapters ahead.
The One Big Beautiful Bill enacts the largest tax cut in history for families, workers, and small businesses. It enhances economic growth and investment, secures our border and allows us to finally complete our border wall, and unleashes our domestic energy potential. It makes generational investments in our national security and defense by refocusing the Pentagon on lethality, instead of woke, DEI initiatives. The legislation reduces the national deficit through mandatory savings, while at the same time safeguards critical programs.
The One Big Beautiful Bill is the result that the majority of the American people voted for. It is a transformational step toward restoring American greatness – one rooted in common sense, fiscal responsibility, and an unshakeable confidence to build, prosper, and innovate.
This bill is a huge win for the American people. However, winning doesn’t stop here.
Now, as Congress moves forward with our constitutional duties, we must pass twelve appropriations bills that regulate government expenditures and ensure the taxpayer dollar is being spent responsibly – a mission that is necessary in order for our federal government to properly function and something I am deeply passionate about.
As Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, I look forward to utilizing the priorities and initiatives in the One Big Beautiful Bill to continue to guide our work on the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations bills still to come, as it is critical that our funding priorities remain focused on what matters most: protecting taxpayers, defending the homeland, and rebuilding the American dream.
