All Comanche students eligible for free breakfast and lunch
July 10, 2025

All students enrolled in Comanche Public Schools will be eligible for free breakfast and lunch during the 2025-2026 school year, the district announced Thursday. The initiative aims to foster a more conducive learning environment by ensuring all students have access to nutritious meals.
Schools operating under Provisions 2 and 3, as well as Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) schools, will not require households to submit applications for free or reduced-price meals.
“By providing breakfast and/or lunch to all children at no charge, we can create a better learning environment for our students,” the district said in a statement. School meals provided will adhere to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines for healthy school meals.
The district encouraged families to support the program by having their children participate in the school meal offerings.
This free meal program is part of a Special Provision Option (SPO) that began in 2024 and is set to remain in effect for four years. The program’s continuation will be reconsidered in 2029. Documentation for reconsideration will include direct certification data for CEP schools and qualifying socio-economic data for Provision 1, 2, or 3 schools to assess income levels adjusted for inflation.
In accordance with federal civil rights law, the USDA prohibits discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, age, or reprisal for prior civil rights activity.
