Arrest made for drug trafficking in Comanche
July 10, 2025

A joint operation involving the Sixth District Attorney’s Office Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force and the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office of a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from a suspect in Comanche lead to an arrest nearly a year after the initial invesigation.
On July 9, 2024, Justin R. Scott, Chief Investigator for the Sixth District Attorney’s Office and Director of the Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, stated in an affidavit that he and Stephens County Deputy Tim Vann met with a confidential informant to arrange the purchase from David Alan Johnson.
According to the affidavit, the informant was provided with U.S. currency and driven to a pre-arranged meeting location within Comanche city limits. Investigator Scott saw a black Dodge pickup truck arrive at the location. The informant entered the vehicle and met with Johnson, who was seated in the front passenger seat.
The affidavit details that Johnson and the informant discussed the price and weight of the substance before Johnson provided the methamphetamine. A female passenger, who was driving the vehicle, reportedly told the informant that the methamphetamine should weigh exactly as negotiated.
Following the exchange, the informant returned to Investigator Scott’s vehicle and handed over the suspected methamphetamine. Post-operation procedures were completed, and the substance later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, weighing in excess of 20 grams.
Last Wednesday, Captain Timothy Vann and Stephens County Sheriff’s deputies along with Master Officer Bailey Webb of the Duncan Police Deparment went to the 100 block of E. Patterson where they arrested Johnson on trafficking in controlled substances.
Charges against a female occupant for obstruction of an officer were later dropped.
Scott, who has served with the District Six District Attorney’s Office for over 26 years, holds cross-deputization with the Lighthorse Police Department and a Special Law Enforcement Commission with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He has conducted hundreds of investigations involving controlled substances throughout Oklahoma.
A healthy Stephens County requires great community news.
