Sheriff releases statement on train collision

On May 22, 2025, at approximately 4:36 a.m., the Stephens County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a train/pedestrian collision at Oliver Road in Meridian. One person was found deceased at the scene. The person’s identity is being withheld until all family can be notified. 
Union Pacific’s train was northbound when the collision occurred.  The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Meridian Fire Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Investigator and Union Pacific responded to the scene.  
The investigation is ongoing.
