John Dean (Deannie) Williams, of Comanche, went to his heavenly home late Tuesday evening, April 29, 2025 in Duncan.  He was 79 years old.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 6th at 12:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church with Bro. Dee Bowen officiating.  Interment with military honors will be held at the Fort Sill National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.  Viewing will be Sunday from 12:00-4:00 p.m.
John was born December 24, 1945 in Oklahoma City, OK to Orville and Lorene (Davidson) Williams.  He was a 1964 graduate of Comanche High School. He then attended Oklahoma State University.  John was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving two years in Vietnam from 1966-1968. After his discharge from the Army he worked for Otis Engineering in Carrollton, TX.  He later opened his own business in Dallas, TX doing remodeling and construction.  He came back to his hometown of Comanche in 1995.  At a chance meeting in a local convenience store, his path crossed with Gayla Blair-Cupit and on October 6, 2007 they were united in marriage.  John was a beloved member of the Comanche community.  He was very active in the American Legion and Stephens County Honor Guard.  He took part in over 1,300 military honor ceremonies.  John took great pride in his country and city. He proudly raised the flags at the Comanche High School football games; as well as putting out the American flags on holidays. He enjoyed woodworking, playing the guitar and attending family reunions.  John and his daughter, Deanna were members of a canoe and rafting club.
He is survived by his wife Gayla, of the home; two daughters, Deanna Wright and husband Eric of Lone Grove, OK and Danielle Williams and husband Kevin Stringfellow of Oklahoma City, OK; a step-son, Adam Turner and Julie Brantner, Comanche, OK;  two brothers, Ray Williams and wife Lois of Lewisville, TX and Royce Davidson of Sherman, TX; one sister Winnie Biffle of Duncan, OK;  sister in law Lucille Davidson of Oklahoma City, OK; eight grandchildren: Makenzie Phillips and husband Zach of Ardmore, OK ,Kolten Lima and wife Genia of Germany, Elliot Stringfellow and Roman Stringfellow of Oklahoma City, OK, Cheyenne Koch and husband Hunter of Comanche, OK, Ashton Stephenson and wife Cloa of Lindsay, OK, Hayley Wright and Warren of Oklahoma City, OK, Taylor Vazquez and husband Matt of Anadarko, OK;   ten great-grandchildren: Ryker, Everleigh, Victoria, Cordell, Creek, Canyon, Olivia, Haylee, Harper and Mollie. And many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Lorene Williams; grandparents who raised him, Ben and Audie Bell Davidson; his brothers and sisters, Buster Davidson, A.B. Davidson, Doris Davis and Ellena Rice; and brother in laws Lee Biffle and Bill Rice.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Wright, Zach Phillips, Ashton Stephenson, Hunter Koch, Brian Gay, and Kevin Stringfellow.  Honorary bearers will be Johnny Hunter, Tom Percival, Dee Watson, Mark Somerlott, Dennis McQuinn, Mark Pitcock, Ed Copley and Ronnie Peck.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Comanche American Legion Post #258 through American National Bank in Comanche or the Stephens County Honor Guard, through the Bank of Commerce in Duncan.
