George Oliver Buckley

George Oliver Buckley, a longtime resident of Comanche, passed away Saturday evening, April 26, 2025. He was 89 years old. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, May 1 at 1 p.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Greenville Cemetery, located in Love County. Viewing will be on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
George was born October 23, 1935, in Crawford, NE to Guy William and Ola Grace (Popkay) Buckley. He and Myra Sue Buckley were united in marriage on March 11, 1997 in Kissimmee, FL. They made their home in Meridian. George worked many years in construction, also working as a superintendent of Gas and Oil Lines throughout Colorado, North Dakota, and Wyoming. When he relocated to this area, he worked at Mel Cox Transport. He never met a stranger and made so many friends throughout his journey.
Survivors include his children Sue Ristesund, Kim Allred, Georgeanne Gonzales, James “Jim”, Buckley, and George Buckley; also a granddaughter whom he considered a daughter, Somer Brown and husband James Burnett, and their children, Whitley and Wyatt Brown. Also four brothers: Lawrence Buckley, Donald Buckley, Larry Buckley, and Randy Buckly; and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Buckley; his parents, Guy and Ola Grace Buckley; one sister, Leona Grace Buckley Barkus; and two brothers, Raymond “Milo” Buckley and Laverne William “Cowboy” Buckley.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Burnett, Frank Hall, Wyatt Brown, Larry Buckley, Donald Buckley, and Randy Buckley.
