Comanche track sending seven to state

The Comanche track team is sending seven athletes to this Friday and Saturday’s state meet in Catoosa after qualifying at the regional meet in Moore on Monday.

Comanche had two regional winners in Brilee Combs in the 1600 meters and Makisig Rogers in the 300-meter hurdles. Combs also qualified in the 800 meters by finishing third with a time of 2:34.74.

In the 1600 meters, Combs circled the track four times in 5:51.58.

Rogers finished with a time of 41.80 seconds to win the 300-meter hurdles.

Corbin Bowen finished fourth in the race and also qualified for state.

Kruz Lile also qualified individually by finishing third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.45 seconds.

A couple of relay teams also qualified for the boys.

The 400-meter relay team consisting of Rylan White, Brycen Lassley, Bowen and Lile finished in third place.

Comanche’s 1600-meter relay team consisting of Lile, Cooper Epperson, Lassley and Bowen qualified for state with a fourth-place finish with a time of 3:40.15.

Velma Meet

On April 23, the teams competed at a meet at Velma-Alma.

On the girls’ side, Brilee Combs finished in fourth place in the 800 with a time of 2:34.81.

Karsynn Bowles finished the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 57.02.

On the boys’ side, Lile came in second in the 100 meters with a time of 10.52 seconds.

Rogers finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with at time of 15.22 seconds and second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.46 seconds.

Rylan White finished seventh in the high jump by clearing 5-04.

Klayton Smith placed ninth in high jump and 15th in the long jump.
