April 18, 2024

Colby Shannon doubled and tripled while driving in three runs to lead the Comanche offense in the Indians’ 7-5 win on the road at Plainview last Friday.

Comanche and Plainview swapped the lead a couple of times before Comanche took the lead for good in the top of the sixth inning.

Comanche pushed a run across in the top of the first on an RBI double by Shannon that scored Cooper Dobbins. It would be the first of three runs scored by Dobbins in the game.

The home team scored twice in the bottom of the second to take the lead for the first time

Comanche retook the lead in the top of the fifth with two runs on a two-run single by Payton Jones. Plainview would answer with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to retake the lead.

The visitors, though, came right back in the top of the sixth with three runs on a two-run triple by Shannon.

Comanche got an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Carson Vansickle scored on a fielder’s choice by Evan Dodd to push the lead to 7-5.

Dodd then set Plainview down in order in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the win.

Dodd pitched the last three innings, giving up three hits and no earned runs while walking one and striking out one.

Ty Lane started the game on the mound, tossing four innings and giving up no earned runs.
