Shirley Jean Dunn

Shirley Jean Dunn of Comanche passed away with family by her side on Monday, April 8, 2024 at the age of 82.

Shirley was born on Jan. 14, 1942 to Theodore Faye and Ruth Beatrice (Hill) Beard in Perryton, Texas and grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Perryton High School.

Soon after high school, Shirley married Lloyd Chisum and together they had one daughter, Deborah. Several years later she met Willie Chad Dunn in Perryton who became the love of her life for 52 years and together they had one daughter, Stacey. With Chad, she had the opportunity to live and work in Utah and Nebraska before settling in Oklahoma.

One constant in Shirley’s life was Eastern Star. She was an active member of Duncan Chapter No. 39, being a Worthy Matron multiple times and serving as Grand Marshall of Oklahoma in 2005. She loved Eastern Star dearly and made many long lasting friendships during her years of service. She was very involved with Masonic Youth organizations, particularly Rainbow Girls, where she served as Mother Advisor for Duncan Assembly for many years and was a State Mother Advisor of Oklahoma.

Shirley was a passionate collector of antiques. She liked to bowl and was involved in a league for several years, but most of all she enjoyed going on trips all over the country with her friends. She will be remembered as a loyal and caring friend who sought ways to be of service to others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, former husbands, sister Barbara Akin, and great-granddaughter Alexis Leeann.

Shirley is survived by her daughters Deborah Jean Lang and husband Cliff, Perryton, Texas; Stacey Ann and husband Bill Fiddler, New York City;

five grandchildren: Brandy Lee Crawford, Pauline Nicole Torres, Alicia Faye Herro, Kimberly Dawn Robison and Odette Beatrice Fiddler; four great-grandchildren: Trista Nicole Crawford; Olivia Jolee, Paloma Jeanine and Daniel Joseph Torres.

She is also survived by her sister Joan Fisk, Dalhart, Texas; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

A viewing and visitation will take place at the Comanche Funeral Home on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m. at the Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Perryton. Interment will follow at Ochiltree Cemetery.
