Waurika girls down Bray-Doyle in consolation semifinal
The Waurika girls proved to be too much for the Bray-Doyle Lady Donkeys to handle as the Lady Eagles dominated their consolation semifinal game, 63-14.
Jasmine Henry and Aubree Showalter did the most damage against the Lady Donkeys. Henry presented match-up problems for the Lady Donkeys in the post, especially in the early going, before Showalter's driving to the basket and short-range jumpers kept the momentum going.
Waurika's defense also allowed the Lady Eagles to get some easy baskets as they shut passing lanes which led to fastbreaks.
Waruika led 13-6 at the end of the first quarter, but then outscored the Lady Donkeys, 22-5, in the second quarter for a 35-11 halftime lead. The Lady Eagles would then go on to lead 56-14 at the end of the third quarter.
Waurika will play Velma-Alma at noon today (Saturday) in the consolation bracket championship.
