Velma-Alma boys run past Central High, 75-46

COMANCHE - Jackson Lohrer scored 23 of his 27 points in the first half as the Velma-Alma Comets moved into the championship game of the Stephens County Tournament with a 75-46 win over Central High. All 75 points came in the first three quarters as the Comets did not score in the fourth.

The Comets were hot right from the start. Central High did briefly lead in the first quarter on a three-pointer by Landon Johnson that gave the Bronchos a 3-2 lead, but Velma-Alma would score the next eight points and they would never trail again. Lohrer scored 14 points in the quarter, including a pair of threes as he helped the Comets get out front and stay there.

Velma-Alma led 26-15 at the end of the first quarter and then outscored the Bronchos 28-12 in the second quarter to take a comfortable 54-27 halftime lead.

The Comets then put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Bronchos, 21-12 for a 75-39 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Velma-Alma will play Marlow in the championship game at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Central High will play Comanche in the third-place game at 4:30 p.m.
