Barbara Ann 'Apple" Hartley

Barbara Ann “Apple” Hartley of Comanche passed away in Comanche on Sunday Jan. 7, 2023.
Barbara was born in Comanche on Sept. 6, 1936 to Elton and Maurice Apple. Barbara went to Oak College Elementary and graduated Comanche High School in 1954. She went on to Draughon’s Practical Business College in Oklahoma City. Her and her husband Lelan Hartley were wed in Comanche on July 1, 1954.
Barbara was an avid quilter and enjoyed sewing as she sewed many clothes for her kids and grandkids. She was an amazing painter and played the piano for many decades at Friendship Baptist Church where she was a member. You would also see her name listed as a winner year after year in the county fair. She was a member of the Oak College Home Extension Club since 1959.
She adored her entire family. Her day would be made if any of her kids, grandkids, or great grandkids walked through her door.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Elton and Maurice, her brother Joel Apple, her son Phillip Hartley, and grandson Nathan McCord.
She is survived by her husband Lelan, daughters Cary McCord her husband Mike, Malea Miller and her husband Dick. Grandkids Clint Miller and wife Rebecca, Aaron McCord and wife Natalie, Samantha Gerard and husband Cody, Matthew McCord and wife Stephanie, great grandkids: Kinsye, Ace, Knox, Ryleigh, Ian, Hartley, Miles and Paige. Siblings: Jackie Harris and husband Charles Wayne, Carol Franklin and husband Dennis, Randy Apple and wife Vickie and Regina Apple, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her service will be Wednesday Jan. 10, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Ray of Hope Church with Pastor Dan Standifer and Pastor Mike McCord officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Family visitation will be held at Comanche Funeral Home Tuesday, Jan. 9 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers you can donate to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Comanche and a church of your choice.
