Eleanor Delores McClennen

On Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, Eleanor Delores McClennen passed away peacefully in her home in Comanche at the age of 87.
Eleanor was born on July 12, 1933 to the parents of Paul and Bertie (Maggart) Howell. She grew up in Comanche and attended school there. On Sept. 14, 1950, she married Jinks Elton McClennen. They resided in Comanche, where they raised their two children, Karen and Craig.
Eleanor was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Comanche and she donated her time and service as a member of the United Methodist Women. She believed in the importance of civic responsibility and served as an election poll worker for several decades. She was a talented seamstress and crafted beautiful items that she would often gift to family members and friends. She loved to read, cook, and host holiday celebrations in her home. Eleanor was known for her quick wit, infectious smile, and her generous spirit (as well as her homemade candy).
Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband Elton, her parents Paul and Bertie, and siblings Maggart Howell, Bobbie Siegal, and Waylan Howell.
Eleanor is survived by her two children: Karen Cloud of Comanche, and Elton Craig McClennen and wife Teresa of Cleburne, Texas; four grandchildren: Brent Cloud of Comanche, Barbi McClennen Lorenz and husband Dr. Landon Lorenz of Cleburne, Texas, Marci Cloud of Comanche, and Jessica Minmier and husband James Minmier of Fort Worth, Texas; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dr. Frances Howell Rudko of Marion, Massachusetts. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will miss her greatly.
Due to the pandemic, no memorial service will be held at this time. To celebrate Eleanor’s life, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made in her honor to the First United Methodist Church of Comanche at: 411 Main Street, Comanche, OK 73529.
