Donna Joan (Henson) Strange

Donna Joan( Henson) Strange, passed away in her sleep, with her husband and daughter and both grandchildren by her side, on Tuesday morning, Nov. 21, 2023 at her home in Lawton. A funeral service will be held Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. at Ray Of Hope Church, north of Comanche; with Pastor Mike McCord officiating, assisted by Kristopher Gifford, her grandson –in-law. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Viewing will begin Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. The family will be receiving visitors from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joan was born on March 24, 1941 to Alvin and Alta Nona (Barnett) Henson. After graduating high school she married the love of her life, Billy Don Strange, on Jan. 1, 1959 at the Holy City Chapel. They were married for over 64 years and still couldn’t go a day without each other. From this union came two children; Crista Cherie and Steven Wayne. After graduating from Cameron with a degree in accounting, where she had a 4.0 GPA., Joan worked at Fort Sill in management analysis for more than 40 years. She loved playing bridge, several times a week, and Joan was an avid shopper.

Survivors include her husband Don, of the home; one daughter Crista Gibson, of Comanche; two grandchildren: Joshua Hardin, and Megan Gifford; five great-grandchildren: Valen Hardin, Jayla Hardin, Kurtisee Gifford, Stryker Gifford, and Kyler Gifford; a sister, Judy LaRose; and a special grandson-in-law, Kristopher Gifford. Also, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Alta Henson; and her son, Steven Strange.
