Comanche cross country ends season at state meet
The Comanche boys cross country team finished 15th out of 21 teams at the 2023 Class 3A State Meet last Saturday in Edmond.
“It was a tough meet but I was proud of how the kids did. The boys did a great job,” said Jason Miller, head coach. “They haven’t been ranked this year and finished in the top 15. They all had their best times at this meet. We will lose a valuable part of the team next year when Hunter Lassley graduates. I think all of the other boys will keep improving. I think they will be pretty tough next year.”
Brycen Lassley paced Comanche with a 30th place finish (17:45.08), followed by Aiden Frye in 63rd (18:33.35), Makisig Rogers in 75th (18:50.12), Gage Jessen in 123rd (20:35.81), Hayden Harget in 137th (21:13.02), Hunter Lassley in 138th (21:18.80) and Erik Roy in 143rd (21:31.81).
Levi Haynes of Community Christian won the individual title (16:21.12) and Casady High School won the team title, 49 points ahead of second-place Community Christian.
On the girls side, Brilee Combs was the lone Comanche representative. She finished 19th overall with a time of 13:06.25.
“Brilee ran a good race and beat her time from last year,” Miller said. “She has been really consistent this season. She will be motivated and bounce back for next year.”
Ryleigh Hodges of Metro Christian Academy won the individual title with a time of 12:02.36 over the two-mile course.
Metro Christian also won the girls’ team title, 33 points ahead of second place Mount St. Mary.
