Same faces, new name at Headdress Salon

When Megan White told her husband Anthony that Jana Hinsley, the owner of Southern Sass Salon, was going to sell the business that Megan had been working at since April 2019, he asked her a question.

“Why don’t you buy it?”

That’s exactly what she did and took over as the official owner on Oct. 1.

“I didn’t want to go back to Duncan,” White said. “I like working here in Comanche. Mandi Davis didn’t want to leave either.”

White is a Comanche High School graduate, so she is right at home in Comanche. After her youngest was old enough to start school, she decided to do cosmetology since it gave her a flexible schedule. She went to cosmetology school and graduated in 2018.

“(In 2019) Jana made a spot for me and I came here,” White said.

White and Davis began to search for a new name for the salon.

“Mandi had been doing some research and came across ‘headdress,’ and asked me about it. I thought it was perfect,” White said. “It just fit the town. Then we started searching for a logo.”

It was important for her to stay in Comanche and not go back to Duncan, where she had started her career.

“People want to stay local and not have to make the drive to Duncan,” White said.

Headdress Salon does all types of hair, nails, lash extensions, lash lifts and spray tans.

“And, we have a massage therapist now,” White added.

It has been somewhat of a change going from stylist to owner.

“It’s been exciting and stressful,” White said. “Now, I get to do things I want to do when I want to. It’s still all new to me, though.”

She and her husband have three children: Savannah, 13; Kagan, 10; and Emma, 4.
