City purchases transformer

August 23, 2023

The Comanche City Council met in special session Thursday, where they approved the purchase of a new transformer for the substation.

The council had previously gone out to bid for the project, but bids came in at $1.3 million and the council rejected all the bids.

The city was recently approached by a company selling a used six-year-old transformer in excellent condition for $412,000, which was approved at the meeting.

“This will ultimately replace the transformer that is currently serving the south half of the city providing better reliabilty,” said Chuck Ralls, city manager.

The expected delivery date is the end of September or early October.
