Old 81 accident claims life
A Waurika man was killed when his motorcycle was involved with a collision with an SUV Saturday evening.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, the collision occurred at the intersection of S. 13th St. (Old Highway 81) and Fuller Road, one mile south of Duncan. James R. Wyler, who was driving a motorcycle was severely injured and then later died because of the collision with the Chevy Tahoe, driven by Colton C. Petty, 21, of Comanche.
According to the OHP report, Wyler was initially taken to Duncan Regional Hospital where he was then transferred by Air Evac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He died from injuries sustained in the collision shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Petty was not injured according to the report.
The OHP, Stephens County Sheriff's Department, Air Evac, Survival Flight, Duncan Fire Department and Meridian First Responders responded to the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the OHP.
