One final time to put on the shoulder pads

Logan Bain got to live one of the greatest fears for an athlete in their senior year - going down with a season-ending injury.
Comanche was playing county rival Marlow in week two of the football season. Late in the game, Bain went down with an ankle injury. His high school football career came to a sudden stop as he would not suit up again for the rest of the season.
It was a disappointing and bitter way to end a career, but when he got a chance to suit up one more time, he jumped at the chance.
Last Friday, Bain participated in the Citizen Potawatomi Natioin All Star football game on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.
Three Comanche teammates - Cade White, Braylen Butler and Kasen VanBuskirk - accepted offers to play as well in order to have one final chance to play with Bain.
“I had a blast, it was a lot of fun,” Bain said of the All Star experience. “It was great to get back out there. It felt good.”
Bain played wide receiver and played on the field goal and punt return teams.
He did not catch any passes, but it did not put a damper on the evening.
“There really weren’t any balls thrown my way, but that’s okay, I still enjoyed it,” Bain said.
Butler played running back, while White and VanBuskirk played on the line. He appreciated his teammates coming out to support him and to play with him one final time.
“It was like playing in the regular season again with those guys out there with me,” Bain said.
The Comanche teammates played on the South squad. The team held a 9-6 lead going into the fourth quarter, but the North scored in the fourth to win the game, 13-9.
Now, finally, Bain gets to go out on his own terms.
