Six Comanche athletes will be competing at the Class 3A State Track Meet in Ardmore this weekend after qualifying at the regional meet in Plainview last Saturday.

Several of the athletes had season-best performances.

Logan Bain will be defending his 110-meter hurdle state championship after finishing first in the same event at the regional meet with a time of 16.16 seconds. It was not his best time of the season, but still was good enough to win the event.

Noah Presgrove won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.45 seconds to qualify for state. Teammate Corbin Bowen was right behind him in second place with a time of 44.11 seconds and also qualified for state. Presgrove also finished fourth in the high jump and Bowen finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles.

Another first place winner for Comanche was Alayna Nichols who won the shot put and finished second in discus with season bests in both. Her shot put throw of 34-06 was more than a foot further than her season best and her discus throw of 99-06 feet was one inch shy of being 17 feet better than her previous mark.

Brilee Combs finished as regional runner-up in the 1600 meters to qualify for state and took fourth in the 800 meters with season best times. Her 5:46.37 knocked 10 seconds off her previous mark and her 800 time (2:34.20) was her season-best.

Brycen Lassley qualified for the 3200 meters at state with a time of 10:33.96, bettering his previous mark by 19 seconds.

Other notable performances include Colby Shannon, fifth in long jump (20-06); Karsynn Bowles, sixth in 3200 meters (14:42.97); Jaelyn Reed, seventh in the 200 meters (28.74) and Cheyenne Hodges eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (22.28).
