Plainview basketball teams rally past Comanche

Neither the Comanche boys nor girls could hold halftime leads as they fell to visiting Plainview last Friday.
The Comanche teams did get some good news earlier in the day when they found out they would be hosting Frederick for the district tournament. The regional tournament returns to Lone Grove and the area tournament will be in Ada.
Both teams also suffered losses on Saturday at Riverside. The girls lost by a 72-28 score to the No. 4 team in Class A and the boys lost, 60-35.

After a back-and-forth game in the first half that had four lead changes and three ties, a big third quarter by the visitors proved to be the difference.
Plainview led 10-9 at the end of the first quarter and led 18-12 in the second before Comanche closed out the half on an 8-0 run that saw four different Comanche players score as they took a 20-18 halftime lead.
Plainview would open the third quarter with a three-pointer to take the lead and they would never give it back. Comanche went scoreless in the third quarter as the visitors pushed their lead to 33-20 heading into the fourth quarter.
Comanche was able to get a little offense going in the fourth quarter, but it would not be nearly enough as Plainview went on to get the double-digit win.
Karsynn Bowles led Comanche with 10 points, followed by Gracee Miller with seven, Kamrey Rendon with five and Kynli Morris with four.

Plainview went on a 15-0 run that started late in the third quarter and continued until there was less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Up until that point, the game had been close with neither team leading by more than six points and featured four ties and four lead changes.
Comanche did itself no favors either as they went just 8-of-16 (50 percent) from the free-throw line in the game.
Comanche held a 13-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 26-23 lead at the half.
Plainview took the lead in the third as it started the quarter on a 10-4 run before Comanche answered with a 9-0 run. Plainview, though, would score four points in the last 16 seconds to cut the lead to 38-37 heading into the final quarter.
Dillon Ellis led Comanche with 19 points, followed by Hunter Lassley with 10, Briar Blair with seven, Blayden Cook with five, Colby Shannon with three and Gunner King with two.
