Walter Elliott passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, surrounded by his family, in Memphis, Tennessee.A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 1st at 12:00 p.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Randy Weeaks officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.Burial followed at Fairlawn Cemetery. Walter was born October 1, 1922 in Jefferson County, Oklahoma, to James and Mamie Elliott.He spent most of his life in North Texas, and Oklahoma, working on a ranch and later, in the oilfield.Walter was a Veteran of World War II. He joined the U.S. Army at eighteen years of age, and served from December of 1942 until December of 1945.He received three Overseas Service Bars; American Theater Campaign Medal; Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars; and the Philippine Liberation Medal with one Bronze Star.After the war, he married the love of his life, Wanda Lorene Hill, on September 26, 1950. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda; his parents; sons John Darrell, Leon Alexander, and Mary Best.
Survivors are daughters:Sarah and Wayne Weeaks, Carol and Doyle Johnson, and Erin Noll, all of Arkansas; Margaret of Lawton, OK; sons: Walter and Diane, Kansas; Larry and Dee, Comanche, OK; Mark, El Reno, OK; Kristy and Randall Shoefstall and Katina and Sheridan Howell, and Kenny Shoefstall, all of Comanche, OK; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many other family and friends.
