Verby Lee Kirkpatrick, age 84, a resident of Comanche, peacefully passed away late Thursday evening, October 20, 2018 at her home southwest of Comanche.A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28th at 10:30 a.m. at Ray of Hope Church, with Pastor Mike McCord officiating.Interment will follow at Duncan City Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.Viewing will begin Wednesday, December 26th from 9:00- 4:00, and Thursday 9:00-6:00.The family will be receiving friends Thursday evening from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Verby was born December 31, 1933 in Claud, OK, to Charley B. and Etiwa (Goodwin) Dove. On October 6, 1953 she and Lark Kirkpatrick were united in marriage in Wichita Falls, TX.In 1954 they moved to Comanche, where they opened Lark’s Dairy Inn.They ran the restaurant for over thirty years.Later they opened Lark’s Doughnut Shop in Duncan.She was a member of Ray Of Hope Church.Verby loved working in the outdoors, but her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Jackson and husband Donald, of Comanche; her grandchildren: Lindsey Carter and husband Josh, Watonga, OK; Josh Homier Oklahoma City, OK; and Jerl Hammack and wife Kristen, Mt. Washington, KY; her great grandchildren: Londyn Homier, Drew Carter, Jaiden Hammack, Lark Hammack, and Violet Hammack; also, one sister, Viva Lovett, Edmond, OK; and other relatives and many dear friends.
Verby was preceded in death by her husband Lark; one son, Randy Kirkpatrick, her parents; three brothers: Pete Dove, Bill Dove, and C.B. Dove; and one sister, Veda Billingsley.
