Russell Ray ‘Rusty’ Bloomer
Russell Ray “Rusty” Bloomer, age 62, a longtime resident of Corum, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday evening, Aug. 22, 2019. A funeral service was held Aug. 27 at Ray Of Hope Church, with burial following, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Rusty was born June 26, 1957 in Lawton to James D. and Rose Marie (Smith) Bloomer. He was a graduate of Lawton Eisenhower High School.
On April 25, 1980 he and Sophia Murphy were united in marriage in Wichita Falls, Texas. They moved their home to Corum from Geronimo in 1984. He worked for PPG for over 44 years. Rusty enjoyed taking care of his cattle and beer drinking buffalo, Bert. He loved being outdoors- fishing, camping, and traveling; but most of all, spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Sophia, of the home; three children: Cristina Kinkade and husband Andrew, Comanche; Russell Bloomer Jr. and wife Heather, Comanche; and Amy Latta and husband Zac, Waurika; his mother, Rose Bloomer, Lawton; two brothers, Jimmy Bloomer and Gary Bloomer, both of Lawton; eight grandchildren: Grace, Cloey, Jamyson, Isaac, Madyson, Avery, Deklyn, and Payson; his mentor, Bud Fye; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
