Gerald “Dutch” Nagel
Mr. Gerald Anthony “Dutch” Nagel, a resident of Comanche, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Meridian Nursing Home, following a brief illness. He was 92 years oid. Dutch was born April 17, 1927 in Delphos, Ohio, to Arnold and Mary “Ruen” Nagel. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII, where he monitored communications as a teletype operater during the end of the war. Following the death of his first wife, he later married Mary Baker, the love of his life, on August 30, 1958. They made their home in Southern California, in Los Angeles, where Dutch worked for So Cal Carton Company, working as a pressman until his retirement after 28 years. Upon retiring, Dutch and Mary moved to Dayton, Nevada, and finally settling in Comanche. He was a very devoted husband. Dutch is survived by a brother, James “Jim” Falke, Springfield, Ohio; a sister, Marguerite “Mary” Rahrig, Van Wert, OH; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, ? and his second wife, Mary; three step children, who he raised as his own; Steven, Susan, and Danelle; his brothers and sisters: Arnold “Dutch” Nagel, Edward Nagel, Eugene Nagel, Raymond Falke, Gertrude Haunhorst, and Ruth Bigelow. Dutch was a kind man, very resourceful, tenacious, and hard working. He never gave up, despite his disabilities.
