Edgar ‘Ed’ Dane Owens
Edgar “Ed” Dane Owens, a lifelong resident of the Comanche community, peacefully passed away early Saturday morning, July 25, 2020 at his home in Meridian. He was 84 years old. A graveside funeral service was held Tuesday, July 28 at the pavilion at Fairlawn Cemetery, with Bro. Billy Bowen and Bro. Dee Bowen officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Ed was born Feb. 15, 1936 in Duncan to J.C. “Bud” and Euzella (Whittington) Owens. He and Verna Dean Milburn were united in marriage on Dec. 18, 1959. Ed logged many miles on America’s roads as a truck driver for a long period of his life. He managed the Stephens County Rural Water District #3, and he also worked for the National Rural Water Association, and the Oklahoma Rural Water Association. He was a board member for the Stephens County RWD #3, and a member of the Gideon’s and Full Gospel Business Men.
Ed is survived by his wife Verna, of the home; Two daughters: Annette Dalrymple and husband Allen, and Stacey Lindsey and husband Chad; two sons: Edgar “Eddie” Owens Jr. and wife Judy, and Mike Owens and wife Dawn; his grandchildren: Jared Owens, Lance Doherty, LeAnne Doherty, Michala Owens, Mitchell Owens, Annjelica Lindsey, Matalyn Baldwin, Cayle Baldwin, Shawn Bohannan, Brian Bohannan and Kaylee Dalrymple; great-grandchildren: Xavior Doherty, Kimber Isbell, and Landon Isbell; and one sister, Edna Mae Hagan; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Winnie Jean Bullard and Ophelia “Kid” Bowen; and one brother, Marvin “Man” Owens.
