Dorla Jean Boles Goddard Absher, a former resident of Comanche, before moving to Healdton passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 9, 2019 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. She was 89 years old. A funeral service was held Oct. 14 at Prairie Hill Church of Christ. Burial followed at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Jean was born Dec. 8, 1929 in Cushing to William T. and Mary (Roe) Boles. After graduating from high school she attended Oklahoma A & M University. She owned her own beauty shop for many years. She came to Comanche in 1991 from Sterling. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and she was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She and O.C. Goddard were united in marriage on Feb. 3, 1948. He passed away in 1963. She married Sherman Absher in Gainesville, Texas in 1991. Jean enjoyed dancing, reading, cooking, and watching the wildlife from her window.
Survivors include her children: Dan Goddard, Duncan; Rick Goddard and Theresa Goodman, Burneyville; and Jodi Harkins and Crusty Harkins, Healdton, OK; two stepchildren: Jerry Absher and JoAnn, Comanche; and Barbara Hughes, Dumas, Texas; and numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Sherman Absher; three sisters: Mildred Boles, Ernestine Simpson, and Tommy Boyles; two brothers: Warren Boles and Dr. R. Dale Boles M.D.; and her parents.
