Local food banks receive donations

Across the country, families are being impacted by COVID-19 with businesses shuttering their storefronts and reducing staff. In Oklahoma, the economic impact is enhanced as a result of the oil and gas industry’s low energy prices causing additional lay-offs. Many individuals who have never needed public programs are now seeking assistance, which is putting a strain on available resources.

Commissioners get update

Stephens County Commissioners met at the Stephens County Fairgrounds for the first time after conducting meetings by teleconference from the courthouse the past three weeks. The courthouse has been closed to the public during that time.
