Indians rally for wins
New Comanche baseball coach Toby Wilson signals to a player against Lawton last Friday.
Comanche baseball teams provided some late-inning heroics in their home openers last week. Both the junior high and high school teams won in their final at-bat. For the Jr. Indians, it was three runs in the bottom of the fifth that led to a 3-2 win over Frederick on Thursday. The next day, the Indians went extra innings against Lawton before scoring twice in the bottom of the ninth to take a 6-5 win.
“It was a big win for us (in high school),” said Toby Wilson, Comanche baseball coach. “We had some things cost us late in our first two games. These kids are resilient. We are just a couple of runs from being 3-0 instead of 1-2.”
It was Wilson’s first win as Comanche head coach. He came from Midwest City, which are both a big change in some aspects and no change at all in others.
