Golf course sees success
July 1 will mark the one-year anniversary since the City of Comanche took back the operation of the Comanche Lake Golf Course.
City manager Chuck Ralls is pleased with how things have gone in that year.
“It was certainly a learning experience,” Ralls said. “I’ve started businesses before and I’ve never seen anything like trying to run a golf course. It’s a whole new beast.”
Even though he is a golfer himself, he didn’t realize how picky golfers could be until the city took over the managing of the course.
“We were lacking in equipment, but we’ve been getting everything we need,” Ralls said.
There is new equipment for maintenance and upkeep and several new golf carts.
In the works is a plan to re-do the cart paths. ODOT is donating 112 tons of millings for the project.
