Garvin announces bid for State Senate District 43
As a health care professional for many years, it has been important for Jessica Garvin to stay knowledgeable and on top of the goings on in the political arena.
But it was not until fairly recently when she thought about throwing her hat into the political ring after participating in a leadership course that rekindled her interests of being on the front lines.
Garvin, of Duncan, officially declared her candidacy for Oklahoma Senate District 43 as a Republican a couple of weeks ago.
Last Tuesday, she held a meet and greet and an official campaign kickoff at Viridian Coffee in Duncan.
In 2018, then-gubernatorial candidate Kevin Stitt spoke at the Stephens County Republican Fish Fry. He was not the front-runner at the time, but Garvin saw his passion.
“When I met him, he asked me what I did, and when I told him, he was interested in talking further with me because healthcare was not something he knew a lot about,” Garvin said.
The same passion Garvin saw in Stitt is now the passion she says she will have for the constituents of District 43.
