Five File For District 3 Special Election
Five candidates filed their candidacy for District 3 County Commissioner this past week during the filing period for a special election called by Governor Mary Fallin. The special election was called to fill the vacancy that will be left with the retirement of County Commissioner Dee Bowen effective December 31, 2017.
Candidates filing this past week were: Terry Bishop, Tony Mitchell, Russell Morgan, Emzla Pitts and Andy Powers.
All the candidates that filed this past week are Democrats and only those registered in the Democratic Party will be able to receive a ballot for the special election that will be held on February 13, 2018.
Those not presently registered to vote that would like to cast a ballot on the District #3 County Commissioner special election will need to register online, by mail or in person at the Stephens County Election Board by January 19. Main-in registrations must be postmarked no later than January 19. To vote in the special election on February 13, you must register as a Democrat to receive a ballot as this is a primary election.
