The end of an era for Weast
For 39 years Aaron Weast prowled the sidelines of basketball courts with the last 31 coming at Comanche, but when basketball season starts back up next year, there will be a new face in the first chair on the bench.
Weast officially retired when the school board accepted his resignation last month, ending a long teaching and coaching career that saw him get 535 wins. Counting a couple of stints as an assistant, he has been a part of more than 700 wins.
“When I quit before I had 493 wins and (former superintendent) Terry Davidson said I should have got to 500 first,” Weast said with a laugh. “I didn’t realize it. I had never paid that much attention to the number of wins I had.”
