Indians fall to Lexington

The Comanche baseball team suffered its first district loss, falling at home to Lexington, 12-1 on Monday.

The Bulldogs jumped out with four runs in the top of the first inning and the Indians were never able to answer.

Comanche held Lexington scoreless over the next two innings, but the visitors were able to break the game open in the top of the fourth with three runs before adding the final nail in the top of the fifth with five runs that pushed their lead to 12-0.

The Indians picked up their lone run in the bottom of the fifth when Cooper Dobbins reached on a two-out single. He then stole second and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Colby Shannon.

The back-to-back hits accounted for two of the three hits in the game. Clayton Brantner had one in the fourth inning. Comanche had a good opportunity to score in the inning with the bases loaded with one out, but a double-play ended the inning with no runs crossing the plate.

Landon Steele started the game on the mound for the Indians and took the loss. He was relieved by Payton Jones in the final two innings.

Comanche dropped to 2-5 overall and 2-1 in district play and were scheduled to play at Lexington on Tuesday.
