Ann Adams Cranford

March 26, 2024

Ann Adams Cranford passed away peacefully at her home in Cushing, Oklahoma on March 24, 2024.

Ann was born in Fort Scott, Kan. on June 9, 1959, the third child to Marilyn Eva (Kelley) Adams and John P. Adams, Sr., little sister to John Jr. and Barbara, a couple of years later she was big sister to Deborah and Diane.

Ann attended grade school in Ardmore. While in grade school she enjoyed taking ballet and tap-dancing lessons. She developed a love of the outdoors when the family took trips to the family farm in Fox. She enjoyed the car trips when her mother would read stories like Ann’s favorite The Swiss Family Robinson. When the family moved to Comanche, she attended Meridian School and Comanche High School. During her school years, Ann enjoyed riding horses, playing basketball and softball. She also did her part working in the various family businesses.

After graduating from high school, she attended vocational nursing assistant training in Tulsa. While living in Tulsa, she met and married Jack Jones. From this union they had a son, John Martin Jones. Ann loved being a mother and she and John had many fun times, including traveling to Sturgis for the motorcycle rally.

Ann held a variety of jobs, one she most enjoyed was working for a local veterinarian, the position cemented her love of animals and most especially dogs.

Ann expanded her work experience by going back to school for training in telecommunications. In her class was Jimmy Cranford, retired from the U.S. Navy, they became friends and later married.

After a few years, Jimmy had an interest in becoming a locksmith and opened A&J Locks in Cushing. He helped train and get Ann certified and they worked in Cushing and in many of the surrounding towns. They loved helping their clients with any type of lock or safe issue. Ann’s love of dogs was evident as they took their pack of dogs to the shop each day to entertain the customers.

When work allowed, Ann enjoyed riding motorcycles with Jim. Ann and Jim spent time working around their country home in Chandler, as well as fishing, one of Ann’s favorite fishing holes was at her mom and dads’ house in Comanche. She fed the birds and enjoyed watching the turkeys and deer that showed up on her game camera. She loved to travel, and two favorite trips were when they took the motorhome and traveled to watch the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs play.

Ann enjoyed working on special projects with Jim and would step up for her family and friends when needed.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Cranford; parents, John and Marilyn Adams; her son, John Martin Jones, and older brother, John Paul Adams, Jr.
